As you research the topic, you’ll start to see patterns emerge on how to best explain the given topic. This will give you a better understanding of how to create your own how-to guide.

2. Know The Audience

Another element you should pick up from your research is who the audience is for the how-to guide. You’ll want to tailor the how-to guide to the audience in terms of how you explain the tutorial and how much detail you go into.

For example, if you’re writing a how-to guide for someone who is just starting out with the topic, you’ll need to keep things relatively simple and easy to understand so that they can learn how to do whatever it is you’re teaching them how to do.

Section 4. Why

The second section I like including is a why section. This should briefly explain why readers need this how-to guide and what advantage they’ll gain by reading it. Not only does this provide an explanation of why the guide is important, but it also serves as a call to action, giving readers the motivation to take action and learn something new.

Section 5. Step-By-Step Instructions

Next, you should move onto providing step-by-step instructions on how to complete their objective. Each step should be clearly written in a way that allows readers to follow along easily and understand each one accurately. Be sure to include all the details necessary for each step, such as specific instructions or additional resources that may be needed in order to complete the task.

Section 6. Additional Tips

5. Edit & Format

Revise your work one last time. Check for accuracy, clarity, and grammar. You can also use a tool such as Grammarly or Hemingway to double-check your work.
